Canada Day

July 1st is the day we celebrate this beautiful country which we live in. I heard someone on tv the other day, I think it was CBC and they are asking how you would describe Canada. There were lots of long drawn out answers, many of which were very interesting and complimentary. But I describe Canada with just two little words and I think they speak for themselves " my home"

We got up yesterday morning and waited for the rain to stop thinking the day was going to be a washout. But the rain stopped and we headed out for a hike through some of the beautiful walking paths that wind their way throughout Richmond Hill. We walked about 6.5 miles with the midpoint being a pretty spot called "The mill pond". Ducks, swans and the always present Canada Geese were on display, many with babies in tow.

In the evening we headed up to Richmond Green. This is beautiful park where they have walking paths, venues, skating in the winter, beautiful ponds and streams and where many of the local gatherings are held. We found a great spot on a hillside to wait for the fireworks.

The town never disappoints. They always have a very impressive display that lasts about 20 minutes. I grabbed afew pictures but they can't do the actual experience justice. You need to feel the repercussion in your chest and hear the booms as part of the experience. It is not just visual.

Awesome!!

I hope your Canada Day was as great as ours was. We do have a wonderful country to celebrate! Until next time safe travels.
