Can't Keep a Good Girl Down

The weekend for my Granddaughter, Taylor, started out like any weekend should for a beautiful 19 year old.  Her and her boyfriend, Cam, headed to Jasper for a weekend of skiing.  By Saturday afternoon Taylor took a tumble and her ski did not release from her boot.  She said all she heard was a load pop and she started to scream.  Her ankle was broken.  They took her to the hospital, had it x-rayed, put her in a cast and sent her back to her hotel...with Tylenol 3 in hand.  They told her that it was a major break and she would need a plate put in to allow the bone to mend properly.

I called her on Sunday afternoon to see how she managed to get through the night.  She was busy having lunch with a girlfriend.  She had given her ski pass to a friend to go out with Cam to the slopes.  Her and her girlfriend had done some shopping and were having lunch.  Can't keep her down!!   They would be heading back home later that afternoon.  She said the ankle was pretty painful but she was okay.  ... That's my Girl!!

My friend Helen McAllister is part of a group of local ladies called "TWITS".  It stands for "Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Toronto".  They get together for trips to museums, art galleries, theatres, tours, etc. etc.  I had joined several of these ladies last spring when they volunteered to help out at the Toronto Food Bank distribution centre.  Today they were heading to the taping of the Steven & Chris Show.  Helen had invited me to come along.  Off we went this morning, via car and subway to the CBC building on Front Street in downtown Toronto.

They had the set all decorated for Christmas and all segments of the taping were on the Christmas theme.  How to make some very interesting Christmas party invitations and menus, quick and easy make-up ideas, fashion for the holidays and cocktails.

In between each segment of the taping there was interaction with the audience, with several gifts being given away.  It was interesting to watch the changes made to the set after each segment.  They are so quick and efficient.
After the show we were each given our choice of a ladies or men's Dior fragrance.  Also some Dior makeup and Kardashian nail polish.  It was about $200 worth of goodies were took home with us.  Being such a good girl I picked the fragrance for my date rather than myself.  It is the new Aqua Fahrenheit and is very nice.  Makes my boy smell like a million bucks...lol.

We had a nice lunch at Boston Pizza after the show.  It was in the same building so was very handy and then back home.  Thanks Helen,.  Had a great time.  The show will be aired on CBC on Monday December 10th so check it out.  I am the only person in the audience with a Santa hat on.  To the left and third last row from the top.  Probably will look like a goof!!

Before 7:00 am (Alberta time) I got a message from Taylor telling me her Mom was taking her into Edmonton this morning.  She got a call very early this morning to let her know they had a bed and she could have her surgery today.  Twyla called me this afternoon to let me know that Taylor was out of surgery and it went well.  Thank God.  Now it is over and she can mend and her Mom can relax.  I was more worried about her than I was about Taylor..lol.

Today is my Grandson's 10th birthday.  Jacob George is now double digits.   Hard to believe.  He is my youngest Grand.  They are all growing so fast.  Happy Birthday Jake.  Love you so much!!!

Just got off the phone with my gang.  They are still at the hospital in Edmonton.  It is 7:30 pm out there.  They are waiting for the physiotherapist to show up to tell Taylor she is okay on crutches and can go home.  Taylor says she was ready to go home an hour after surgery.  She was not nauseated and is handling the pain with just T3's.  She wants out!!!  Since they had to leave so early this morning Twyla took both Karmen and Jake with her and they have spent the entire day at the hospital.  Talked to Jake to wish him a Happy Birthday.  Not too exciting for them and it has been a long day.  Jake says "I would rather be here than in school".  Typical 10 year old..  Hopefully Taylor will get all clear and they can head home soon.

Only 19 more days until Florida....  Until next time - safe travels.

  1. Hope Taylor has a speedy recovery. Our granddaughter destroyed her knee this past March when her ski binding didn't release.

Kathy and I are still 36 days before leaving for Florida. Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
