Home from Florida

I am just starting this blog and for only one reason.  We plan on becoming full time rv'ers in the future.  When that happens I will no longer have the capability to keep photo albums and journals or the room to store them year after year.  Turning it all into a blog and saving it in the cloud just seems to be the thing to do.  I follow the blog of a couple of good friends and they seem to be able to do it in style.  So here goes... and bare with me as I figure it all out.

On March 16th (which was also our oldest Granddaughter - Taylor's 19th birthday) we headed to Florida  for a week to visit with our friends Bob and Val.  We flew to New Orleans and drove along highway 90 through the bottom of Mississippi with a stop in Biloxi.  What a pretty drive along the south shore.  Then up through Mobile, Alabama and into the Florida pan handle.  Many of the houses along the way are built high up on stilts to avoid the flood waters.

We spent a week enjoying the beautiful beaches of Cape San Blas, fine seafood and good friends.  Here are Bob & Val on the pier at Mexico Beach.

And here are Bob, Val and Tom before we walked down the pier to take a look at the sharks a fellow had caught just minutes before.  By the time we finished the photo op he had already tossed them back in.  However that was the end of any idea of my going into the water that day.

On March 23rd we said goodbye to our friends and took highway 98 along the south shore heading west.  We took a little detour over the bridge down to Santa Rosa Island.  We stayed on 98 into Fairhope which is a beautiful spot.  This tree was along the shore of Mobile Bay.

We spent the night in Spanish Fort (just before Mobile) and then on back to New Orleans the next day to catch our flight home.   All too soon we are back home again.  At least there is no snow in Toronto and the daffodils are already in bloom.  Spring is definitely here.

It is hard to believe, but we are coming up to 3 years of putting our blog up each day! It has been fun, and you will build a faithfull following to be sure! Looks like you had a great time down in Florida.

  6. Thanks for all your comments and encouragement. Not sure when our new BIG adventure will start but in the meantime we hope for some smaller ones to blog about. I know that when the Hollingers get back to Canada this spring we will be able to get into some mischief together...lol.
    Until next time - Cheers.

  7. Looking forward to reading your blog as you transition into full timing, we haven't yet, but we want to. We do travel for a few months each year and stay in hotels as we travel. Obviously an RV would be better, but for now, hotels will do.

  9. As everyone else has already stated "Welcome to Blogland". The beauty of this is that you don't have to post daily but can if you wish. You don't have to post a blog only when you are away either.

A blog, log, ledger, post, journal, or a diary whatever name you put on it is Okay because first and foremost it is for you. Next it's for your kids, friends and anyone you allow to read. This is your choice and a bonus! You can tell of only the good things happening in your life or you can be totally honest and print even when things aren't the best. You will develop a following.

The Important part is that you have fun doing it, and don't be dicouraged when you feel that you only had normal things in life to talk about. Many people are not able to travel or explore like you can do and will travel through your words and pictures in your blog.

We have only been posting since November and have only been able to post about our home base happenings at this point. After the 3rd of June our travels begin. Maybe we might even get to meet down the road some place.

Keep up the good work on you blog Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
